In an effort to recreate the suit in the research, I found a striped suit and edited it in Photoshop to determine which stripes to paint into.  I chose the right side of the second picture in which I had filled two white stripes, then skiped two.  I used undiluted Jaquard fabric paint.

Dye painting on cotton using thickened dye

paste and dye "crayons".

Denim skirt cut up and dyed in two different cold process solutions, then put back together.

 

 

 

 

Silk fan-pleated on the bias, then folded into triangles.

Cold process dye.

Thickened dye paste rolled and printed on cotton.
